Cortazar Home – Shelter Cove, CA

Project Details

The Cortazar house is large at 4100 square feet with 3160 square feet of decks and a 120 degree ocean view at an elevation of 1625 feet. This house is a step into the abstract, but gives the feeling of space and open air.

Off-the-grid, the home has radiant heat on all floors. The radiant heating system has a propane backup and the different zones in the home are controlled independently. The basement and first floor are built of IFC (insulated concrete forms). The rest of the of the structure is standard framing with 8”x18” glulams on 4′ centers in order to carry the cantilever of the decks.
