Burke Home – Shelter Cove, CA

Project Details

Our present home is a log construction of 2380 square feet. In 1998, I drew the plans and worked to the completion of the house. Random length logs were brought across country and I assembled them and personally assembled them with dove tail construction, it was completed in 2001.

Construction with white cedar helps the home retain warmth in the logs during winter, yet provides a barrier from the heat in summer with a fully-insulated metal roof. I designed our home to receive panels on the roof with a 4 and 12 pitch to provide both electrical and hydro heating solar units.
